Q: Can I play in more than one venue?
A:

Yes, you can participate at more than one venue however, you must register with each venue individually as points and membership numbers are non-transferable.

Q: Is it Legal?
A: Yes. Redtooth Poker have referred to advice published by the Gambling Commission and have strictly adhered to that advice. Unlike other pub poker leagues the Redtooth Poker league is played only for points, and these points are not exchanged for prizes or money's worth prizes. This means that the Redtooth Poker league doesn't actually fall under the Gambling Commissions remit and isn't 'gaming' in the legal sense.

Redtooth provide a full document explaining the options under the new legislation that came into effect on Sep 1st that allow small stake gambling between the players, if you haven't received this please call us for a copy or download one from here.

More information from the Gmabling Commision can be found here:

Q: What happens if I qualify for the regional finals from more than one venue?
A:

If you qualify for a regional final from two venues, you must represent the venue at which you finished higher. If you finished in the same position at both venues you must represent the venue at which you scored the most points. Your place from the other venue can then be passed to the next person in the league.
Live poker will always take precedent over online poker, so if you qualify from the Redtooth Tavern as well as from your local venue, you must represent your local venue.

Q: What are the starting stacks for the play-off game?
A:

The ‘Third Place Play Off’ game is to be played within a week of the season ending and is played between the players that have finished in positions 3 through to 10. The amount of chips they start with depends on their final standing in the league - details in the chart below:

3rd 2,700 7th 2,300
4th 2,600 8th 2,200
5th 2,500 9th 2,100
6th 2,400 10th 2,000

Q: What happens if two or more players are tied on points?
A:

If players are tied on points the player that has played the least amount of games finishes higher. If players are equal on points and number of games played, the player who has been most consistent will finish higher. The website will automatically calculate this.

Q: What if two players go out on the same hand?
A: There has been a few calls regarding this to our helpline but don't worry it's a simple answer!

There are no 'tied' places in poker. If two players go out on the same hand, then the one who had the highest amount of chips at the beginning of that hand finishes first, followed by the other player. If both players happened to have exactly the same amount of chips as well, then the one with the best hand is the one who finishes higher.

Q: How does the league work?
A: Each pub has it's own league and these run for 13 week seasons. Each pub will have it's own winner at the end of that season. After each season we will run a regional final for the area where someone will be crowned winner.

Once per year (after 4 seasons) we will hold the national finals, this will be a very prestigious event at a central location with high end equipment, professional dealers and poker celebrities in attendance as well as large screens and full production similar to some of the televised events you will have seen. The winner of this tournament will become the Redtooth Poker League National Champion

Q: Where can I get a set of rules for Redtooth Poker?
A:

Under the new gambling act venues are required to provide written rules of the game before and during play for players to check as required.

We have created an A4 rulecard for you - you will receive one per table as part of your kit and you can also download the PDF here.

Q: How are joint positions calculated in the league tables?
A:

When two players have the same score - our website calculates the player positions based on the following criteria and in this order...

1. Highest Score
Highest points is the winner

2. Lowest Games Played
If you have the highest score but achieved them in less games then you take the lead.

3. Lowest Sum of all Rankings in the Season
If you constantly come first you'll be ahead of someone who comes second all the time.

4. Highest Rank in Any One Game Withing the Season
If you have a 1st place in your games but the other doesn't then you'll take the lead.

If after all these calculations (done automatically, so don't panic!) you feel both players are identical in placings, score, positions, ranking etc then the final positions would need to be determined with a short game between those players - give us a call for more help if that's the situation. However with over 140,000 players so far we've not come across this.

Q: What are the minimum requirements for a player to qualify for the regional finals?
A:

All we ask is for each regional final qualifier to have played at least 4 games during the 13 week season. If the 4 game mark has not been reached then the player will be ineligible for the finals and, therefore, may be replaced by another player.

Q: Why do some venues have 4 qualifiers and others 3?
A:

Venues now gain an extra qualifier if they have been with us for over 3 consecutive years. Our other venues can also gain an extra qualifier if they manage to get 20 players or more to play at least 4 games in a season.

Q: What if one or more of my players cannot make the regional final?
A:

If any of your regional final qualifiers cannot make the regional final then you may send a replacement.

If any of your automatic qualifiers cannot make the regional final then we suggest you send the next player in the league table through. So if you have 2 automatic places you would send 3rd place as the replacement.

If your play-off winner cannot make the regional finals then we suggest you replace them with 2nd place in the play-off.

To make changes you must inform Redtooth Poker before 12noon on the Wednesday before your regional final.
