The Gala Casino in Dundee hosted the first of the latest round of Regional Finals.
Our North Scotland Regional Final would also be the first to play for our inaugural Team Trophy where all three team members would play not only for themselves, but for their pub too. Each player would score points depending on their finishing position from 1 point for 1st to 100 points for 100th and so on. This would only apply to pubs with all three attendees. Therefore, the pub with the lowest overall score would be declared as the new pub team champion of the Region.
The tournament kicked off at around 2pm with Jason Wilson from the Northern Bar in Aberdeen being the first to be eliminated. A few hours later we were down to a 7 player final table with the Clifton Bar in Lossiemouth leading the team competition with only the Aboukir Hotel able to change things. Alan Brunton from the Aboukir exited in 6th place which meant the Clifton Bar could no longer be caught and they would take the North Scotland team title.
The heads-up match was a male vs. female affair as David Dambrosio from the Aboukir Hotel matched up against Danielle Paterson from the Old School House in Aberdeen. Danielle was the unlucky runner-up as her A4 suited was unlucky to be the second best hand on a 884 T 2 board. Our congratulations go to David who wins £500, a glass trophy and a National Final seat.
