THE REPORT

The Alea in Leeds welcomed 191 Redtooth members to find another Vegas 100 member. Seven seats were awarded into our semi finals and eight cash prizes were also awarded.

The tournament started off with a bang as within two minutes we lost two players in the same hand, both flopping a set only to be ‘rivered’ by a straight!

As soon as Matthew Lister, from the Riverside Farm in York hit the rail in 11th place the final table was set and met with a huge sigh of relief.

A 10 seater final table left one unlucky player with just the memory of a fantastic day. Dean Winter soon hit the rail in 10th place and was followed by semi finalists Jamie Strickland in 9th, Neil Phillips in 8th, Ian Wainwright in 7th, Jeff Blunn in 6th, Mel Charles in 5th, Nigel Sellars in 4th, and Kieron Spencer-Halsall in 3rd. This left Gary Stride and Lee Hodgson to battle for the national final package. The final hand saw the lesser hand come from behind to win when Gary tabled 10-5 to Lee’s K-3. The board ran off J-A-4-7-10 to make Gary Stride the new Redtooth West Yorkshire regional champion.
