The Vegas 100 poker week got underway on Thursday afternoon in the shape of the Welcome Tournament. 135 players sat down to play for a share of 20 prizes which includes Grand Canyon trips, Helicopter tours and show tickets. After just over 5 hours of play the prizes were claimed with the tournament winner being James Gallacher who unsurprisingly chose the Grand Canyon tour. John Farnden was the unlucky runner-up who chose the Helicopter ride over the Las Vegas strip!
The first player out was Gavin Powell who in the very first hand picked up A-A only to have them cracked and was inadvertently sent spiralling to the rail.
