Another day, another dollar at the Loose Cannon Club in London. Or at least it was for Darren Maynard of the Running Horse, Bracknell.
Going into the final table quite a few of the players were very short stacked and only imagined they would survive a couple of hands but Karl Turner of the Beech Tree, Orpington kept his cool and managed to grab the last seat in National Final by finishing 6th, despite only starting the final table with 20k.
Going into the final heads up Darren battled it out with Diane Docherty of the Woodman, Banstead who had gone onto the final table as the chip leader with 120k. Diane had As 5d against Darrens’ pair of Aces and when the flop delivered Jc Jh 4c Diane knew she would need something special. Even 6c on the turn and 3h on the river wasn’t enough for Diane but she was happy to qualify for the National Final and take home the £200 for finishing second.
