Cardiff’s Grosvenor Casino hosted our Welsh regional final as we looked to uncover another member of Vegas 100. Seven cash prizes were also awarded throughout a fantastic day of poker action.

The day’s team event came down to two well represented venues in the Tafarn Y Felin and Rhondda’s Ferndale Hotel. With two finalists each it was a battle to the death as the Ferndale Hotel emerged victorious thanks to James Monahan, Richard Williams, Lance Gifford & Clayton Williams.

Our final table of 10 started with Sion Gundy as the chip leader with 107,000 in chips. Unfortunately this was only good enough for a 6th place finish for Sion as the Vegas dream died for another season. Before Sion’s exit we had Christine Harries in 10th, Lawrence Ricketts 9th, Gary Rosser 8th & Leslie Covell 7th. 5th place was Lance Gifford with Matthew Williams 4th and Richard Williams 3rd. Richard’s exit left Jack Evans and Matthew Phillips to battle for the remaining two prizes.

Our final hand had Jack Evans holding 3-4 to Matthew’s 2-5 with Matthew at risk. A following board of 8-5-6-2-3 gave Jack the straight and with it a golden ticket to Las Vegas. Congratulations Jack.
