The well presented Grosvenor Casino in Leeds hosted one of our largest regional finals as Redtooth Poker members from Leeds and surrounding areas battled for a host of prizes.
The first prize awarded was the team event trophy which deservedly went to the Wrose Bull in Shipley who were represented by Darren Hanson, Ismail Niyazi, Mark Gray & Edward Raw.
Our 10 player final kicked off with Glyn Johnson just edging out Adrian Hirst for the chip lead on 177,000 to 161,000. On the other end of the spectrum Anthony Johnson guided his 36,000 short stack into 7th place ahead of Richard Poulton 10th, Gavin Mercer 9th & Robert Hamilton 8th. Arek Kowalczyk finished in 6th place with Jackie Quarmby 5th, Gary Yates 4th & Jamie Willerton 3rd. Jamie’s elimination left our 2 big stacks to battle for the day’s top prize.
The tournament came to an end as Glyn looked down at J-8 to Adrian’s 7-3 with Adrian needing help from the poker gods. The board left us in no doubt who our winner was as we saw 8-9-8-6-A to crown Glyn Johnson the new West Yorkshire champion.
