Tracey Richards hits her first Royal Flush in Birmingham, Tournament Director Phil James tells the story,
“Week 8 at the New Dogpool Hotel in Selly Park, Birmingham, (a new venue this season which has already registered 25 players) was well underway and the players were looking forward to their first break in a couple of minutes when a high pitched squeal rang out across the room;
“I’ve got a Royal Flush”, followed three seconds later by a less high pitched but much louder, “OH MY GOD, I’VE GOT A ROYAL FLUSH”.
Everybody got up from their tables to investigate this rare occurrence whilst Tracey Richards, a long time player in other local live games beamed – “I’ve never had one of those in a live game before”. Well Tracey, not many of us have!!
The unfortunate guy who came up against it, Paul (C) McNeil was heard to mutter (through gritted teeth), “Nice hand”.
Photographs were taken and we all decided it was time for sandwiches. Doesn’t happen often but when it does…….aah well, we can all dream.”
