Nottingham’s Grosvenor Casino hosted our East Midlands regional final as players from Nottingham, Derby, Leicester & Lincoln areas to name a few were in attendance. Individual & team prizes were up for grabs as around 150 players took their seats in a full poker room.
The first award to be handed out was the team event trophy. With 3 top 40 finishers it was the Old Post Office in Nottingham who claimed this award. Congratulations to Matt Bentley, Adam Pikett, Ashleigh Simpson & Kalem Holt.
With previous VEGAS100 member Craig Dowsett holding a big chip lead, he was the clear favourite as the final table got under way. With the shorter stacks leaving us one by one, it was Derby’s Chris Brindle who put up the biggest resistance as he entered the heads-up match with Craig. A key hand gave Chris the edge when his A-6 ‘rivered’ a flush against Craig’s A-K to give him a commanding lead. The final hand saw Craig get his chips in with 3-3 to be called by Chris’s J-9. The board ran off 10-10-8-J-10 to crown Chris Brindle the new East Midlands champion.
