The West Yorkshire regional final was played out at the Grosvenor Casino in Leeds as nearly 200 players were battling for the last West Yorkshire VEGAS100 seat for this year’s trip. £500 in cash was also awarded to the day’s highest finishing players with a UK National Final seat on top.

The first prize, as always, was the team event trophy. The winners on this occasion were the West End in Cleckheaton who were well represented by Ross Elliot, Paul Spencer, Chris Jackson & David Bell.

Our 10 player final table was turned on it’s head as short stack Mike Thompson raced to the heads-up encounter against James Barker. Frank Cahill who started as the chip leader could only manage a 6th place unfortunately for him. The final hand of the tournament saw Mike get his stack in with a dominating hand of K-J to K-10. With James at risk he didn’t get the help he needed as the board ran off 6-9-6-J-3 to crown Mike Thompson the new West Yorkshire champion.
