Ready for Take Off!

Colin Tucker of the Chieftain Hotel, Inverness is about to board his Ryanair flight from Inverness down to East Midlands airport ready for his seat at the National Final on Sunday.

He’s one of 300 players that will be competing for the title of UK Pub Poker Champion (TM) but he’s not travelling the farthest, that would be Alan McIntyre of the Granary Pub in Elgin who has a round trip of 916 miles!

Simon ‘Aces’ Trumper is eagerly anticipating this years bigger and better Redtooth Poker National Final on Sunday. He is looking forward to seeing his old friend Jimmy ‘Whirlwind’ White and making sure all of Redtooth’s 300 runners have a day to remember.

So far 285 players who have qualified have replied to say they will be at Dusk Till Dawn on Sunday…..only 4 days to go!!!

South Yorkshire Regional Final – Season 4 2008/09

South Yorkshire ChampionSheffield United Football Ground again hosted another spectacular regional final with an amazing 95% attendance. Billy Moss of the Devonshire Arms, Sheffield fought well to take out the chip leader Karl Lambert of the Brownlow Arms, Newark and become the South Yorkshire Champion.

North East Regional Final – Season 4 2008/09

North East Champion

Congratulations go to Alan Woodmass of the Elephant, Ashington who became the North East champion after beating Zain Said of the Magic Lantern, Tynemouth with trip Jacks. A few players made it to the final just in the nick of time as roadworks held the traffic up on the Tyne bridge. Some players even completed their journey on foot to ensure they could compete at the Circus Casino.

Central England Winner

The Central England final was fought out at City Limits, Xscape in Milton Keynes. It turned out to be a yo-yo finale on the final table with the lucky cards being 5’s and 7’s. However on the final hand the 5’s finally letting Darren Hand of the Royston Arms, Chingford down as Edward Goldsworthy of the Warren, Kettering won with a pair of Jacks.

West Midlands Regional Final – Season 4 2008/09

West Midlands Champion

There was Royal Flush fever at the Park Hall Hotel, Wolverhampton with two players hitting a Royal Flush. Gregg Phillips of the White Hart, Tile Cross was the first hitting his on the River and Michael Molyneux of the Barley Mow, Milford hitting his on the flop.
A record 218 runners representing 86 pubs across the West Midlands came to compete for the first prize of £500 cash and a crystal trophy with the top 10 players securing a place in the National Final/
Tim Leech of the Woolpack Inn, Weston was the eventual winner defeating Bradley Bolton of the Golden Lion, Wolverhampton in a heads up battle.

South West & South Wales Regional Final – Season 4 2008/09

South West & South Wales Champion

The Village Hotel, Cardiff was the host for the South West & South Wales final, a great venue for a great final!
The two shortstacked players were in a heads up batlle to become the champion after knocking the chip leader out. It was nail biting stuff in the final hand as Chris Bryant of the White Lion, Cricklade beat Shane Pearce of the Rooftops, Haverfordwest with a pair of 9’s. Chris had Q 9 suited and Shane had 8 4 suited. The flop came to deliver Chris’s pair of 9’s with 9h 10s 6c but as the turn revealed 3c Shane had the possibilitly of a flush but the river was on Chris’s side being 5d. Well played to all the finalists!
