THE REPORT
Our newest regional final, the West Country, took place at our previous South West regional venue, the Grosvenor in Bristol. One national final package was up for grabs along with four semi final seats and eight cash prizes also being awarded.
Chris M from the Eliot Arms in South Cerney was the first player to hit the rail. Chris was soon followed by Black Castle champion Martin Gwyther and Swindon’s Ryan Quinn.
THE FINAL TABLE
Seat 1: Scott Hicks – Eliot Arms, South Cerney (75000)
Seat 2: Robert Bennett – Ebdon Arms, Wick St Lawrence (67000)
Seat 3: Paul Elliott – Bell Inn, Yeovil (34000)
Seat 4: Walter Claudius – Wackum Inn, Bristol (45000)
Seat 5: Paul Tadman – Longs Arms, Trowbridge (90000)
Seat 6: Matt Oliver – Miles Arms, Bristol (50000)
Seat 7: Mark Fuller – Woodlands Edge, Swindon (86000)
Seat 8: Andrew Simpson-Lynas – Bailey’s Court Inn, Bristol (28000)
The first player to leave us was short stack Andrew Simpson-Lynas in 8th place. Andrew was soon followed by Paul Elliott in 7th with Matt Oliver finishing in 6th place. Walter Claudius was knocked out in 5th with Scott Hicks 4th and when Mark Fuller was eliminated in 3rd we had a heads-up match between Paul Tadman and Robert Bennett. The final hand saw Robert table A-8 and Paul K-7, unfortunately for Paul he saw a nightmare flop as he was drawing dead to running K’s or 7’s. The full board ran out A-8-2-10-2 to make Robert Bennett our first ever West Country regional final champion.
