An excellent turnout at Bramall Lane, as always, for the South Yorkshire Final saw Joe Willock of the Cock & Magpie, Chesterfield crowned South Yorkshire champion. Going into the final table Joe had just 54,000 chips and managed to clinch the title from Gavin Jackson of the Green Tree Inn, Scunthorpe who had a staggering 147,000 chips starting the final table. Joe went in on the final hand with 5 6 against Gavin’s K Q. The flop revealed the winning hand when 6 9 5 came out and although there was still a chance Gavin could snatch the win the turn delivered 10 and the river 7 giving Joe the title. A special mention goes to our National Champion, Brett Shufflebottom, who was knocked out 7^th, the nerves and pressure must have been too much for him.
