The Grosvenor in Plymouth hosted our South West regional final which saw another excellent turnout as those Vegas 100 packages start to run out. More semi-final seats were awarded along with £500 cash and the two crystal glass trophies.

The team event had a first time winner in the Duke of Cornwall in Ivybridge and they had four top 20 finishers in Dave Crawford, Paul Stocker, David Prywata and Stuart Gilroy.

A 9 player final saw the short stack, Brian Blaxter, exit in 9th place along with David Prywata in 8th, Kevin Owens 7th, Graham Riley 6th, Victor Donald 5th, Ian Curran 4th and Stuart Gilroy 3rd. Steve Laing and Matt Bell battled for the Vegas 100 package which saw a cracker of a final hand. Matt was dealt J-J to Steve’s 8-8 and both players were in disbelief as the flop came down Q-J-8! A meaningless 2 and 3 peeled off the turn and river to eliminate Steve and crown Matt Bell our new South West regional champion.
