One of our newest hosts, the Grosvenor in Plymouth welcomed our South West members as a healthy field sat down to commence battle.

The Tyacks Hotel claimed the team trophy as they also provided us with two finalists in Peter Hart and Mantas Matulukstis. Arthur Randell and Peter Davies also represented the winning venue.

This 10 player final was very evenly matched as it got underway. Ian Curran was the first player to be eliminated in 10th place with William Park bubbling the cash prizes in 9th. Chris Curran steered his 9,000 starting stack into a cash prize position in 8th with Martin Gardner 7th, Keith Beeks 6th, Gary Pyke 5th, Andy Hiew 4th and Mantas Matulukstis 3rd. The heads-up encounter had Steve Long match up against Peter Hart for the South West title. When the chips finally went in the middle Peter Hart had the best of it with Q-J to Steve’s J-9. The board was of no help to Steve as Peter was crowned the new South West regional champion and will join us in Vegas next year.
