Manchester’s fabulous Grosvenor Casino hosted our North West regional final which would see another VEGAS100 qualifier emerge at the end of the day. With other prizes also up for grabs including £500 in cash and a trophy for the best represented team we were in for a great day of poker action.

The first award handed out was the team event trophy which was claimed by a long time Redtooth Poker venue, the Fox & Goose in Lancaster. Congratulations to Ben Martindale, Darren Hinchliffe, Vicky Steeley & Wendy Bonnick.

Our 9 player final got under way with team event winner Darren Hinchliffe leading the way on 132,000 in chips, hoping to emulate what his cousin Adam achieved a couple of years ago by winning the day’s top prize. After around an hours play there was only Ash Whitfield sat in Darren’s way as the final hand of the tournament was upon us. Darren had the Doyle Brunson special holding 10-2 to Ash’s slightly stronger K-Q suited. The final board came down 10-2-x-K-A to crown Darren Hinchliffe the new North West regional champion.
