The North West regional final was played at the Grosvenor Casino on Bury New Road in Manchester with the day’s qualifiers playing in their final regional final of year 9. This meant for most this will be their last chance to qualify for the 2016 VEGAS100 trip. Over £1,500 was awarded in prizes throughout the day.
The first prize was the team trophy which was awarded to the day’s best represented venue. This trophy went to the Guild in Preston for a second time. Congratulations to Paul Robertson, Gary Pond, John Mercer & Garry Clarke.
Our 9 player final table saw The Cotton Tree’s Paul Collinson lead the pack on 162,000 in chips. Redtooth regular Garry Clarke was the short stack on just 14,000 chips. After a couple of hours play we were down to our final 2 players after Emily Glancy eliminated Vicky Allen in 3rd place to give her a huge chip lead in the heads-up match against Gary Pond. As expected the match lasted just a few hands with Gary tabling J-8 to Emily’s 10-10. The board ran off Q-10-A-Q-2 to crown an emotional Emily Glancy the new North West champion and latest VEGAS100 qualifier.
