The Central England regional final was played at the newly refurbished Grosvenor Casino in Luton. Over 150 players sat down to battle for the 1 remaining Central England VEGAS100 seat before the South’s finest come back in a months time for the South UK National Final.

The Central England team event had clear winners in the Oakley Sports & Social Club as they had 3 finalists! Congratulations to Melvyn Atkins, James Gamby, Dean Stewart & David Thomas.

The final was led by 2 of 3 finalists from the Oakley in David Thomas and James Gamby, both with healthy stacks in relation to the rest. However, once the 3rd Oakley member, Melvyn Atkins, was eliminated in 3rd place we had a heads-up encounter between Thomas Lees and Jim Smith with Thomas the big favourite holding most of the chips. The tournament was won in style by Thomas Lees as his 8-8 ‘smashed’ a board of 3-8-4-J-8 against Jim’s K-6 to hit Quad 8’s and crown himself the new Central England regional champion.
